It was Friday night and Susie – my wife – said that she would love to go for a run this weekend.
Keen to capitalise on this enthusiasm for running, I thought through some options. London maybe? No… trains are up the spout. Running around the village? No…. we have done everything here and want a change of scenary. National trails? Oh yes…. we could drive just five miles to Charing and hook up with the Pilgrims Way (North Downs Way).
So, off we headed. Both in shorts – quite warm around here, and both in our trail shoes. The trails are quite dry, but there are a few muddy bits right now, and some of the trail is quite flinty. The plan was to do some combination of run, walk, hike, meander along the trail from Charing, ending up in Hollingbourne. We ended up carrying on to Harrietsham, by dropping down to the A20, and heading back in the direction we started.
Susie is doing great. Really proud of her that she has hit 11.5 miles after walking 13 miles last weekend at Salisbury 54321.
