Day 33-34: I’ve reached Fresnoy – le Grand, France – 254.6miles complete. Faster after an ultra!

Hey runners, friends, everyone!

I’ve really pleased with how far I have run so far in February. I had an amazing few days. I covered 30 miles on Sunday, and I’ve just added another 14.4 miles over day 33 and 34. I have reached the beautiful town of Fresnoy Le Grand.

One of the points of interest is that it is home to that company “Le Creuset” who make cast iron pots and pans. I’m hoping my wife doesn’t read this and ask me to pick anything up…. think it might be a bit heavy!

I love the name of this place, and it has such a lovely cosy feel. And a beautiful monument.Screenshot 2015-02-03 at 22.09.50I am really getting excited and into Strava as a way of tracking my runs, and analysing my stats. It shows segments of runs and other peoples times. I find it really motivates me to press on with my pace.

I found after the long run last weekend, I have been getting faster and faster with the shorter runs that I have been doing. I wonder whether some of it is to do with the fact that I have been through more pain…. and that basically my pain threshold just simple gets reset.

I have also managed to order some new gels – GU Energy. I found a cheap deal (<£20 a box of 24). So I am experimenting with some crazy flavour (can’t remember what!) plus some Espresso Love (which is perfect because it is a double shot of espresso and tastes absolutely amazing!).

What do you think? Are you faster after an ultra? Do you run on tired legs?
