Our local Egerton Running Club organises with Egerton Primary School, Kent, a lovely race through the surrounding countryside. Bluebells are *supposed* to be out in force. I didn’t see many this year though – maybe I was too focused on the race.
The 7k route was mostly off road, and slightly undulating. The conditions were slightly wet underfoot this year, and a little mud. Nothing too terrible though. The temperature was perfect though it was a little blustery.
As usual, all the kids went flying off at the start – really fast. I reached the corner just down from the village centre, and Andrew Abbott (the winner) went past at a terrifying pace to take the lead. I suspect he led the whole way around. Amazing runner.
Thanks to everyone for setting up, including all the volunteers on Saturday marking out the route and cutting down foliage. The various mum’s and dads and helpers on Sunday at the school – cakes, tea, coffee, and lovely bacon rolls. Thanks to the Marshalls on the day – David, and the others. Pete for haring around on his quad bike, checking out the route. Dave and Susie for managing the finish line and results. Sarah Elworthy for leading the whole operation. Mark Winter led the warm up exercises before we headed off. Probably missed loads off. Vanessa, Charlie, Louise, Julian, Colin, Rachel, and Jonathan. Hope I haven’t missed anyone!
